ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

We are never to young to serve. Those words went through my mind as I was packing my bags to go to Guatemala. After three days of training it is clear how evident and true these words are. The way of expression and of praise for the God is so heart warming, that tears of joy can easily be seen and felt. People are shouting, singing, and roaring with assurance that God will take care of them. All shackles and chains that try to hold us back are easily broken. Each of these men and women are of courage strength and obedience. I have never felt so alive and having the Holy Spirit in me is...

Discomfort causes Growth

God is moving and working in my life in ways where I don't feel like the same person and its only been 3 days of training.  Arriving at training camp was a bit overwhelming at first and out of my comfort zone, but slowly over time God has been revealing to me that with discomfort brings growth.  One activity that we did that stretched me in faith was a surrender activity we did.  We had to get a log and write down on the log the things we needed to surrender to God, after praying and letting God reveal to me the things I needed to surrender to become close to Him was very...

the battle cry

"Go forth seeking adventure. Open your eyes, your ears, your mind, your heart, your spirit, and you'll find adventure everywhere." Wilferd A. Peterson If the past 3 days of training camp have been any indication of what God is going to do through our team in the next two months, Guatemala is going to be changed forever. Something we have learned this week is that the more we surrender to God, the more space...

Probably over 500 words, but you’ll read it anyway, right?

¡Guatemala mañana!   So training camp has been crazy intense. Between high-powered musical worship sessions, encouraging and challenging messages, and more group bonding than an entire week of freshman orientation, I’ve been going to sleep every night physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted. But in the best possible way! God is pushing and pulling me in all kinds of new places, pressing me into uncharted territories of my own spirit and His greater plan. If my entire two months in Guatemala are anywhere near as growthful as these past three days have...

The Lord Brings Joy in All Occasions

I have only been on this journey for two days and already God has done so much work in my heart. This last week in dealing with my best friend’s death has left me feeling broken, empty and lost from the Lord (and everything else for that matter). Yesterday night I broke down in chapel during worship because I just couldn’t find it in my heart to praise God in the intimate ways that were around me. I ran into the hall and just totally lost it. I couldn’t remember the reasons that God had asked me to be here; couldn’t find Him in my heart to spur me on toward serving for Him this...

“It was safe”

I intoduced myself and waited until the rest of the 20 others arrived. Upon arrival of the entire team we departed the airport.    After riding the marta from the airport to downtown Atlanta we then treked about half a mile with all  of our luggage to the Safe House. It was safe. We put are things down and ate a pb&j with some chips for dinner. After dinner we went out on the streets to talk to...
