expect the unexpected

I didn’t expect to fall in love with Guatemala so quickly, but I definitely have. The people, the culture, the language, it’s so different from America but I really like it. I also didn’t expect for my heart to break for Guatemala so quickly. After a 3 ½ hour plane ride then a long, hot, 7 hour bus ride where our driver played Total Eclipse of the Heart and Hotel California literally 10 times each we finally arrived at our new home in Puerto Barrios! We settled into our tiny rooms with 6 people in each room and then enjoyed a nice dinner. Our hosts / the ministry...

Safe in Guatemala!

We just spoke with the team leaders and they've all arrived safely in Guatemala.  They are in route to their ministry site via some very long bus rides and will be settling in these next few days and getting some orientation from their host. Expect to see some blogs rolling out in the next few days as they find internet. Thanks for all the prayers for this team! The Passport field support team

The Lord Brings Joy in All Occasions

I have only been on this journey for two days and already God has done so much work in my heart. This last week in dealing with my best friend’s death has left me feeling broken, empty and lost from the Lord (and everything else for that matter). I couldn’t remember the reasons that God had asked me to be here; couldn’t find Him in my heart to spur me on toward serving for Him this...

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

We are never to young to serve. Those words went through my mind as I was packing my bags to go to Guatemala. After three days of training it is clear how evident and true these words are. The way of expression and of praise for the God is so heart warming, that tears of joy can easily be seen and felt. People are shouting, singing, and roaring with assurance that God will take care of them. All shackles and chains that try to hold us back are easily broken. Each of these men and women are of courage strength and obedience. I have never felt so alive and having the Holy Spirit in me is...

Becoming Completely Free in the Freedom of Christ!

Today is the last day of training camp before we leave for Puerto Barrios. We have been requested to blog our journey through Guatemala this summer. I am not a writer or a blogger but I'll do my best! Monday my team arrived at Toccoa Falls College for a week a training camp before we head out of the country. There have been many team bonding activities and a lot of focus has been placed on getting all of us out of our spiritual comfort zones. For me, it as been a week of spiritual stretching and constantly being placed out of my comfort zone. God has opened my eyes to so many different...
