It’s Different, But It’s Comfortable

You know that spiritual high you get at church camp? The one that sticks around for a few weeks then you’re left with nothing but a countdown until next summer. Training camp is nothing like that. We all arrived after a day of goodbyes, airports, and a long, sweaty, 2 hour, 3 bottoms in a seat bus ride. Feasted like there was no tomorrow (cafeteria food is always the best), jumped right in, and haven’t stopped running since. All-group worship sessions are entirely God’s. People are shouting, dancing, crying, jumping, singing, praying, clapping- however you could think to...

Let me introduce with a haiku about getting out of bed:

No no no no no. No no no no no no no. No no no no no. I hate waking up early. But I love God so much more… eh, you give some. you get some. Anywayyyy….. Prior to arriving at training camp, I honestly did not prepare much for this 2-month endeavor.  I was so overwhelmed with other things, preparation fell to the bottom of my list. I definitely regret packing so hurriedly last minute and choosing not to get the suggested vaccinations and meds.  However, I'll just use this as an opportunity to rely even moreso on the Lord. Training camp has been refreshing. I truly...

The Lord Brings Joy in All Occasions

I have only been on this journey for two days and already God has done so much work in my heart. This last week in dealing with my best friend’s death has left me feeling broken, empty and lost from the Lord (and everything else for that matter). Yesterday night I broke down in chapel during worship because I just couldn’t find it in my heart to praise God in the intimate ways that were around me. I ran into the hall and just totally lost it. I couldn’t remember the reasons that God had asked me to be here; couldn’t find Him in my heart to spur me on toward serving for Him this...

Training Camp

Today's the last day of training camp! We leave tomorrow morning out of ATL and will be flying into Guatemala City around 11am mountain time. From there we have a 6ish hour drive to Puerto Barrios. These past few days have been filled with team bonding, worship, teaching, camping outside, hiking to a waterfall, and speaking life over people! It's been such a wonderful experience and I'm actually grateful for having training camp. I was pretty apprehensive beforehand because the last thing I wanted to do was go to training camp. Anyway, it's time to get this adventure on and...

training camp sayy whaattt??

Picture this. 200 college aged students in Atlanta Georgia for a training camp, preparing us for missions all over the world. What comes to mind? Nazi "holier than thou"snobs telling you how much of a sinner you are. Maybe a hippie like love fest. These were only a few of the ideas scrollig through my mind. When we arrived one of the first things we did was worship. So all 200 of us piled into the sanctuary. Not knowing what to expect. As we stood up to worship one of the speakers for our camp told us how Adventures in Missions encourages us to worship. All he said was FREELY. If...

You Are All We Need

Today is the final day of training camp.  Everything ha sprogressed so much since that first slightly awkward team dinner.  Everyone on my team agrees that it feels like we have been here for over a week. We have been learning a ton of different things about worship, freedom, listening, and how not to hate each other for the next 2 months.  Most of our team walked to a sweet waterfall here at Toccoa Falls college this afternoon and had some great bonding time. Our leader Grayson slid down a rock into a hole in the waterfall pool, which was pretty funny. We are leaving...
