Saving the Best for Last

This last week has been my favorite week of the trip, beginning with our mini mission trip to Honduras.  I don’t think anyone was really looking forward to Honduras-they told us we would be out doing ministry from 8 in the morning until 10 at night, and then sleeping on the floor of a church. And considering the fact that the Honduras border is only 20 minutes or so away from Puerto Barrios, we were expecting a similar cultures and the dark spiritual climate that surrounds our own port city. But Puerto Cortes was completely different than any of us expected. First of all, everyone...

Purple Couch

Yesterday, we had an ATL ministry morning. For those of you unfamiliar with this (me being one), it stands for Ask The Lord. You literally pray and ask God what he wants you to do and where he wants you to go during the time set aside. With that introduction, we split into groups and began to pray. My group started with individual prayer. Ok God, I said. I have no idea what I'm doing. And I'm sure hoping you do. Nothing. Really God? Something? Anything??? And finally, randomly, completely unexpected, God told me "purple couch." Well, really more burgandy....

What exactly defines family? I ask because I think I’ve found more of mine in Central America. That sounds weird, finding family in another country, but I have.  This past week we visited Honduras to renew our visas and I was actually dreading the trip. I didn’t want to leave the little bit of normality I have found here in Casa Verde and be drug around with a busy ministry schedule. But by the end of the 5 days, a little piece of my heart is left in Honduras....

IT’S NOVEMBER!!

This month has been great! We went to Honduras on Thursday and stayed five days. We worked with local churches and I fell in love with Puerto Cortez, Honduras. The people welcomed us with open arms and showed us so much love. It was great!  A LITTLE ENCOURAGEMENT FROM MY DEVOTION JESUS CALLING…. "Sit quietly with Me, letting all your fears and worries bubble up to the surface of your consciousness. There, in the Light of My Presence, the bubbles pop and disappear. However, some fears surface over and over again, especially fear of the future. You tend to project...

Top 5 Moments of the Week in Pictures

1. Tennis! During sport's ministry, our Pastor knew I liked tennis so he talked with the tennis instructor at the complex, and he let me play. It was a very unexpected treat! 2. Outdoor Church Service on Friday and Saturday At the church service, I met these two adorable and sweet girls. Cesia, the girl on the right, was patient with my Spanish speaking skills, and we are able to have a good and long conversation. They bought me a lollipop and Cesia gave me her bracelet. 3. (Little) Cliff Jumping and Swimming in the River Friends of the pastor we work with wanted to bless us,...

Open Arms Acceptance

I don’t think there is a better way of meeting someone with the person’s arms wide open for you. There is not a trace of judgment. Nothing at all negative. Solely embracing you for who are and that you are there. They don’t care about the shoes you are wearing or your big ears. They want you because you are YOU. That is how all the little kids are that I have met here in Guatemala. Spending time with them, I feel accepted, wanted, and loved. It fills me up just conversing and having fun with them. The other day, we went to a school and each of the Americans paired up...
