God´s Heart

It was during prostitue ministry, when I was talking to this lady Catherine, that God revealed his sweet abundant heart to me. This lady was so beautiful. And I don´t just mean physically, but she was just beautiful. Her way of talking, her sweet and kind personality. I don´t know what it was but when I talked to her my heart just broke. I was so drawn to her and just wanted to hug her forever and never let her go. This might sound a little wierd but that´s really how i felt. And I know it was just God´s heart flowing out of mine, because I have no reason...

Top 5 Culture Shocks of Guatemala

5. What Stoplight? Somedays, crossing the street seems like you're in that old arcade game "Frog Crossing." The cars don't stop. So be prepared to run, and above all else, use caution! Also in this category, I suppose, falls one of the (many) taxi stories. This time, we made a side trip to the gas station reaching our final destination. Now, being one of those paranoid people who reads all the signs posted at each and every gas station in the states, imagine the shock and terror I felt when the first and foremost rule was not followed: the driver didn't turn off the...

Opening New Doors

The past few weeks here in Guatemala I can not even fully explain. It is a more of a different experience then I ever thought. God has been opening my eyes in many different ways, one being through the children´s hospital here in Puerto Barrios. Honestly, my whole life I have been intiminated by hospitals and had no desire to even attend one. So the other week our whole team went to the hospital, which was unlike one I have ever seen in the States. It was there, when I realized how sanitary and safe the hospital in the States really are. We are blessed there and most...

Bar Hoppin on a Friday Night

The other night we went to do prostitute ministries in the bar. Before going we were warned of the possible dangers and to be completely honest it got me pumped. Yes I have an adventurous spirit, but im not the type of idot that would take unnecessary risks in order to partake in one. Its not that im the kind of person that will just randomly fling myself into risky situations, but the idea of putting myself in possible danger in order to share the love of Christ is awesome. The idea of risking and putting it all on the line to do the Lord’s work is amazing.   Before leaving for...

Isaiah 42:6

“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.” –Isaiah 42:6   This week I have been learning what it means to walk step in step with God. This verse has encouraged me so much, I just love the picture of God taking me by the hand and walking with me, instead of allowing me to walk by myself. He not only calls us, but he then takes us...

El esta levantando pesas (He is lifting weights!)

This is a blog I drafted two weeks ago to share with y’all: With sweat dripping down my face, muscles straining and every fiber of my body shaking, I try to lift the weight… My friend, Walker, stands beside me laughing hysterically. I fall over, completely exhausted, and the weight crushes my foot. The crowd of kids laughs hysterically. I shake my head and limp off, as Walker tries his hardest to lift the giant load. With a grimace on his face he hoists the weight only a few inches off the ground and then falls over on his back as I, with chest swelling, laugh at his failure....
