The Intimacy of Silence

“So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.” JOHN 11:6 When God is silent in your life, what is your instant reaction? “Oh my God has forsaken me. He has left me here utterly alone.”  NO. On the contrary God is showing you a deeper level of intimacy and trust. “Has God trusted you with a silence—a silence that is big with meaning? God’s silences are His answers. Think of those days of absolute silence in the home at Bethany! Is there anything analogous to those days in your life? Can God trust...

WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS THERE IS FREEDOM!

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”  Colossians 2:6-7 This week started off a bit rocky…Friday morning I woke up with severe sun poisoning and 2nddegree burns all over my face. This equaled 3 days stuck in the house. But praise God I am back to normal! In Puerto Barrios, Guatemala the Christian culture is extremely closed off. Week 5

Jeremiah 29:11-13 11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. God is so good. When ever you doubt his plans for you he shines light onto your life and says… “Listen my daughter, do not doubt me. Regardless of how tired or sick you are. I have sent you here for a reason. You can not rely on yourself… for I...

Worrying and Complaining… no más!

I was unsure of what to blog about this week. If you read my other blogs, you already have a feel for what ministry looks like here. I don't want to bore you with my emotional states the past few days or say the same thing I did last week, so this week I decided to write about what I have been learning, both about myself and about my God. God has convicted me of two things this week: complaining and worrying. I know that the Bible specifically says not to complain and worry, but for me, it is so unnatural not to do those things, especially when it comes to worrying. Sunday was a...

the legacy of prayer

So I realize it has been quite some time since I have blogged, so ill do my best to sum up the past month. My time here in Guatemala has been such a growing experience. We truly do experience the “highest of the highest” and the “lowest of the lowest” while on the mission field. The beginning of our ministry had to do with a lot of intercessory prayer walks and door to evangelism and individual prayer. When first arriving in Puerto Barrios we soon realized that it was a spiritually dark place in which prayer was a major tool used in the ministry here. The Lord has...
