A Baby in a Bar

Tonight, I held a baby in a bar. This was the second time it happened. The first time was during our second visit to one of the bars and a 19-year old lady we got to know gave birth to a baby boy. But this was different. Because for the first time during this trip while I was holding this baby girl, tears started welling down my face.      Tonight’s schedule was to visit the prostitutes and beforehand, we made cards and bought chocolates to give to the women. We’ve been trying to go to the same bars and minister to the women we met the past...

A Longing for Intimacy

God has been speaking intimacy over me a lot while I have been here in Guatemala. Specifically, I think, because I tend to get busy “doing” things for Him or the team and miss the whole point: Being in His presence. I have read two books outside of the Word of God that have helped me to see the value of sitting in the silence, “waiting on the LORD.” The books are Abba’s Child by Brennan Manning and Bridal Intercession by Gary Wiens.  I make mention of them because I recommend them as a helpful tool to enlighten you on how God feels about you and also the...

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

"Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:3-5 Happy Thanksgiving to all back in the States! Today is day 82 on the mission field and we have 19 days left on this Guatemala adventure. God is so good! Our team was more than blessed this week. We got the opportunity to go visit the Mayan Ruins and...

Lessons from the Locals

Another few weeks in Guatemala have come and gone, and I may just finally have a blog. We are continuing to do ministry every day and still have the two time slots (morning and afternoon) in which we go out into the community. Recently, the group has been going to an orphanage and more frequently helping out at a children’s hospital. I’ve seen things here that have made me think twice about the many opportunities and privileges that I have in the States. By no means is that intended to insinuate that America is better, in fact it’s the exact opposite. I can’t express...

My Soul Thirsts for God

“I will praise you, O Lord among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.” Psalm 57:9-11   It is day 75 on the mission field, and we will be heading back to the states in just 26 days. I am so excited about going home and being back with my family and friends, but I am so thankful for the time we have left. God has truly transformed my life through this journey. He has taught me how to love, and...

Holy Crap!!

These last three weeks have been such a blessing that I don’t deserve. My team and I had the great experience to spend debrief (debrief is were we meet with the 2 people that work for adventures in missions and talk to us about how things have been going for the past month and a half) in Antigua, Guatemala. Hands down, Antigua is the prettiest place I’ve ever been to in my life-time and God willing would love to visit that place again before I meet Jesus. But that’s not what I’m blogging about today. I’m typing this today to tell you about the experience I had...
