Today we went to visit El Hogar De Ancians Santo Francisco de Asis (The home of the elderly of St. Francis of Asisi).Walking in, I felt so uncomfortable. I have tried my darnedest for most of my life to avoid these kinds of places. I generally find them far too depressing, even in the US. It’s the same reason I avoid funerals and memorial services and hospitals. I don’t like death. I don’t like being reminded that at one time or another, we will all be there, dying or having died. It was a little less than 2 years ago I stood in the training center at Adventures in Missions, overwhelmed by the presence of the Lord. Training Camp for the World Race wrecked me. Training Camp blew my mind. I had dozens of words of prophecy spoken over me and spoke prophecy over many people. I was in an intimate time of worship when Jimmy approached me and spoke into my ear, "You are going to find out just how strong God is in this season of your life. It is going to come out of your weakness and you will truly know what it means for God's strength to be perfected in your moments of weakness. We just spoke with the team leaders and they've all arrived safely in Guatemala. They are in route to their ministry site via some very long bus rides and will be settling in these next few days and getting some orientation from their host. The past four days have been mind-opening for all of us. Constant support through out and worship have been a big part as well as the super fun activities. Some of the super fun activities included dance-offs as well as painting. We have been learning how to be unified through Christ as a team as brothers and sisters. It has been wonderful to get a chance to make new friendships that could last like a lifetime. Everyone is genuinly kind and caring. I couldn't ask for a better team. The gifts God has given everyone here is amazing and the staff is incredible. So many God-loving people...
