You is kind. You is smart. You is important.

"You is kind. You is smart. You is important." If you have ever read or seen "The Help" then you know how impactful those statements can be and just how necessary they are for everyone to know. There are so many people across this globe that don't just want to hear these words, but need them. They have been filled to the brim with lies about worthlessness, ugliness, hopelessness, and irredeemability. Last week, when my team and I traveled to Honduras, we had the opportunity to speak with one of these people.  Kitsia is a 22 year old mother of two...

The American Dream isn’t my Dream

I want to start off by apologizing: this isn't a happy, feel-good blog. I've finally gained the courage to write what I've been feeling.   It starts in 1931, James Truslow Adams with the statement that has impacted America to this day. It is referred to as the "American Dream," saying, "life should be richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement."    The longer I've been here, the less appealing America sounds to me. Since when does working hard guarantee a life full of...

God’s Plan for Me

Since being here, I have loved being able to have intersession with the whole team. I've never seen God speak to me so powerfully. I used to think that to hear God, I had to hear a loud audible voice, so I guess you can say I never "heard" God. During intersession someone usually plays guitar and we take time to worship, during that time I just pray about what the Lord wants to show me and that I would be open to whatever He is asking of me. I've come to the realization that the Lord speaks to me through His word. So I'll always open my bible and the first verse I...

Making a disciple Out of Me

Through out my whole month here, God has spoken to me in so many ways. One thing that I can't get away from is the fact that I'm supposed to be His disciple. Last night we attended Pastor Rony's church, and when I say we attended, I mean we were the church in some sort of fashion. Sometimes I feel as if we're on tour here in Guatemala, we've visited so many churches, and at almost every one we perform a drama, spanish songs, which Belle plays on her guitar, and two of us share our testimonies. Then we get asked to take pictures with them and their...

Our God

"Into the darkness you shine out of the ashes we rise there's no one like you none like You! Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other. Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God! Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other. Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!" Our God- Chris Tomlin   Sunday mornings here are always interesting. By Interesting I mean extremely confusing and slightly frustrating. My time at church is spent bouncing around the bible or trying to translate...

Two weeks and counting.

Today marks the 2 week anniversary of us being in Guatemala. When I try to think back on what all has happened I have a hard time remembering it all..   In two weeks God has brought 7 girls together and has forced them to be friends. We are all so close to each other and feel like we've known each other for centuries. We already have many inside jokes and continue to make more. It is absolutely amazing how we can share our struggles and triumphs and be there for each other through litteraly everything. For example, last Saturday I was having a hard day, and to make it...
